"My Genius of Humanity" Reading - Fresno State University

MY GENIUS OF HUMANITY will have a public reading November 22, 2014 at the Theatre Department of Fresno State University. Guest Broadway actress Jacqueline Antaramian will read the lead role of Nina Davidian, a woman who leads her Armenian-American family back to Soviet dominated Armenia from Kalamazoo, Michigan in 1949 as part of a program manipulated by the Stalin led USSR to "repatriate" Armenia.
Ms. Antaramian has several broadway credits, including working with Denzel Washington on JULIUS CAESAR. MY GENIUS OF HUMANITY is scheduled to open as a full production May 1, 2015 at (Division 1) Fresno State University.
Moscow Art Theatre Produces "Beast on the Moon"

While it may not necessarily be "new" news, Richard is delighted to inform everyone that the Moscow Art Theatre in Russia (formally known as the Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre) has been presenting his play, Beast on the Moon, for the last 10 years. This may be one of the longest runs ever for an American play to run at a european theatre. The Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre was founded in 1898 and is one of the most prestigious theatres in Europe. That production originally began in March of 2011.

"Beast on the Moon" at WSU in Massachusetts

Worcester State University of Massachusetts plans to produce Beast on the Moon in April of 2015. The play has also been produced two other times in Massachusetts--once as a student production at a college, and once at the New Repertory Theatre in Watertown (outside of Boston, circa 1998).

Mr Kalinoski's new play, THE BOY INSIDE, will feature Noah Totzke in the role of Tony Bartolo (the lead character) when it will have its first professional public reading produced by The Chamber Theatre of Milwaukee on October 13, 2014. Noah is a former student of Richard's, and will join a distinguished Milwaukee based largely Equity cast. Noah has been involved in the early drafts of this play--which was written and developed with the help and sparkling imagination of the late Mark Hallen at Eastern University.

Beast on the Moon will be produced next season at the Raven Theatre in Chicago--running from 21 April thru early June, 2015. Beast on the Moon will enter its fourth year in repertory (Sept., 2014) at Tallinn City Theatre in Tallinn, Estonia. Beast on the Moon will be presented in a special four performance series of presentations (rehearsed staged readings) by a community-based free theatre, Theatre Voices, in Albany, New York. This opens October 17, 2014, and it will be directed by Bruce Brown.

May 15, 2014 marked the first public reading of Richard's new play, THE BOY INSIDE. This reading had a rare and unusual venue--the meeting room of the football team of the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. Professional actors from Milwaukee came up for a day of rehearsal in the football offices followed by a performance at 7:30 PM. A diverse audience of football coaches, football players, university administrators, citizens and university professors was stunned by the impact of the play -- which depicts the crisis inside football and the growing recognition of its dangers as a sport. Addiotionally, Mr. Kalinoski's other new play, MY GENIUS OF HUMANITY will have it's first ever reading at Fresno State University in Fresno, California on June 11, 2015. Jacqueline Antaramian, established Broadway actress and veteran of significant regional theatres in the U.S., will be a member of the cast for the reading. MY GENIUS of HUMANITY is scheduled to premiere at Fresno State on May 1, 2015.

Mr. Kalinoski's new play, THE BOY INSIDE, will be read publicly on May 15 at 7:30 PM in the football meeting room at Titan Stadium at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. A combination of student alumni and professional actors (some from Milwaukee) will perform in the evening, after an all-day rehearsal of the play--which addresses, in part, the explicit violence of football and its real and/or potential cultural value. Coach Patrick Cerroni and his staff have been supportive of the conversation about football that the play engenders.

"Beast on the Moon" completes its third season as part of the repertory of the Tallinn City Theatre in Estonia--the play opened in March of 2011 and continues to run in rep with a host of other plays--the only other American play is "WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOLFE" by EDWARD ALBEE (having run for at least 11 years). Mr. Kalinoski would like to thank the Tallinn City Theatre for their dedication to his work, and providing it a home in Estonia.

Mr. Kalinoski's first draft of his play, MY GENIUS OF HUMANITY, appears headed for development at Fresno State University, to become part of their 2014-15 season with a planned opening May 1, 2015. The play was commissioned by the Fresno State Theatre department with the idea that the new play would be a feature in an array of activities, honoring the commemorative of the Armenian Genocide (wrought by the Ottoman Turks circa April, 1915).

Beast on the Moon named one of 10 Best Theatre Productions in Milwaukee for 2013 by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Produced at In Tandem Theatre in March of 2013, it was directed by local notable director Mary McDonald Kerr. The last time Beast on the Moon was produced in Milwaukee was in 1997-- when it was also named one of the 10 best for that year. (in Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on December 27, 2013)
Habits of Mind - A Reading

Mr. Kalinoski's current project, working title "Habits of Mind," had a salon, a reading of invited guests in late November, 2013. The reading of the new play, about a college football coach and his university president--was attended by a collection of academics, 5 football coaches and a number of football players. It was a highly charged event. The group was conspicuously riveted.
Raven Theatre in Chicago - Beast on the Moon

Mr. Kalinoski's often produced play, Beast on the Moon, will be featured as part of the Raven Theatre's main stage season 2014/15 in Chicago. The Raven is a thirty year old established professional theatre--the play is scheduled for an opening in April of 2015 and will run through the beginning of June. Mr. Kalinoski has been invited to take part in activities which will commemorate the genocide of Armenians by the Ottoman Turks in 1915--under cover of the first World War.
